Adrien Broner expected to return in June

Lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO's)is expected to make a return in June. While the opponent is unknown as of now, a few names have been mentioned. The front-runner to face Broner in July, and Broner's preferred opponent, is lightweight contender Ricky Burns (35-2, 10 KO's). Broner has made it clear that he wants Burns to be his opponent. The fight was supposed to be made before the Gavin Rees bout but fell through. Should that happen again another name that was being tossed around was Richard Abril (18-3-1, 8 KO's). Abril is coming off a victory over formerly undefeated Sharif Bogere (23-1, 15 KO's). Abril's performance against Bogere was not fan favorable and the fight may have actually hurt his chances at landing Broner. The last name, and most recent, was for Broner to move up to 147 and face welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO's). The fight would most likely be easier to sell than the other two considering the popularity of Malignaggi, especially if it were to land in Brooklyn at the Barclay's Center. I'm sure within the next couple weeks we will know. They are all formidable foes, but none pose a serious threat to the highly regarded prospect whom has claimed himself as the next pound for pound champion.
