North Carolina Boxer Isaiah Carr Turns Pro, Signs with Wise Owl Boxing

Kannapolis, North Carolina's Isaiah Carr has signed a managerial contract with Wise Owl Boxing as he transitions from a successful amateur career to the professional ranks. The 25-year-old super middleweight hopes to fast track his way to becoming a world champion.

"I am really looking forward to seeing how Isaiah develops as a professional fighter," said Mark Habibi of Wise Owl Boxing. "He's extremely intelligent and this should set him apart from the competition. He's at the perfect age to get him to the top quickly and that's what we intend to do. He'll be making his pro debut in Greensboro, North Carolina on March 23rd."

Carr went 31-5 as an amateur, winning national and regional tournaments. He made Team USA and competed at the 2023 Olympic Trials before deciding to turn professional under the guidance of Habibi and Lamont Roseborough.

Betting on Boxing in North Carolina

“While amateur boxing is popular in the state, sports betting in North Carolina is still fairly new. Boxing fans can now wager on pro fights online or via sportsbooks around the state” said CarolinaPlays.com. Common bets include picking the outright winner, betting the over/under on rounds, or prop bets on whether the fight gets stopped early. As Carr's career progresses, savvy local fans may want to put some money behind the promising young fighter.

The Move to Wise Owl Boxing

For Carr, signing with the respected and growing Wise Owl Boxing was an ideal fit. The North Carolina native will train in his home state as he transitions to the professional ranks.

"It’s a blessing to have a manager like Mark Habibi take interest in my career after just 31 amateur fights," Carr said. "I know the opportunities will come towards me now that he and Lamont Roseborough want to take me to the top."

Roseborough, Habibi's partner at Wise Owl, is equally excited about the partnership.

"Isaiah is very dedicated to boxing. He is humble and has an incredible work ethic. The future is very bright for him and for our whole organization," Roseborough stated.

From Hidden Gem to National Champion

Carr began boxing at 16 when a local gym opened up in his hometown of Kannapolis. He quickly took to the sport, but remained an under-the-radar amateur known locally as a "hidden gem."

Over just six years and 31 fights, Carr put together an impressive amateur run. He won four North Carolina state championships. On the national level, Carr won tournaments like the Washington State Golden Gloves and the USA Boxing Olympic Qualifier.

That success earned Carr a spot representing the United States in the 2023 Olympic Trials for Team USA. After competing at trials, he decided to turn professional and signed with Wise Owl Boxing.

The 25-year old will campaign at 168 pounds as a super middleweight with plans to eventually drop down to middleweight. Carr is nicknamed "2 Hard" for his aggressive, fan-friendly style.

Entrepreneurial Endeavors Outside the Ring

Outside of boxing, Carr owns a successful wholesale real estate business flipping properties in North Carolina. The young fighter has already proven to be savvy and hard working both in and out of the ring.

Wise Owl has high hopes that his dedication, natural athleticism, and high ring IQ will lead to professional success and championships.

Expanding Wise Owl Boxing's Stable

With the signing, Carr joins an accomplished and growing roster of fighters under the Wise Owl Boxing banner.

He now shares managers with fighters like WBC #1 ranked super welterweight Charles Conwell, world title challenger Brandon Adams, undefeated prospect DeAngelo Evans, and the also undefeated Javon Woodard Jr.
