On the press conference earlier today undefeated junior middleweight champion Saul Canelo Alvarez and undefeated junior middleweight champion Austin Trout had much to say as the prepare to face each other on April 20th..
"I want to fight the best in the world." Said Canelo. On facing Austin Trout he went on to say, "My key to victory is to not get carried away. I want to win each round and break him down. People don't realize how fast and good I move." Canelo's words were defended by his promoter Oscar De La Hoya.
"He's a seasoned veteran at the age of 22. He is so intelligent in and outside of the ring." De La Hoya said. "People were worried about taking this fight. I was never one of them."
When Canelo was asked if he was upset that he wasn't fighting on May 4th, a Cinco De Mayo holiday, he simply stated, "On the contrary, I'm very happy to be fighting on April 20th, Look at the response from the fans."
Austin Trout didn't hold back from words either. "I don't think his style will challenge me but his skills will." Trout said on facing Canelo. "I want this to put me in a position to be a PPV fighter, but first I have to get through this beast Canelo."
On the amount of fans that will be there rooting for Canelo, Trout is ready for them. "I have to silence them. They can't be in that ring with him. That can't give him water. I'm not going to give them a reason to cheer for him."
The fight is scheduled to take place at 9pm on Showtime from the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX. The fight is being deemed a 50/50 fight, because no one clearly knows who has the advantage in the ring, which is why it has become as big as it has gotten.
