Seven of the Best Boxing Matches for 2020

It was the perfect year for boxing fans around the world in 2019, with some breath-taking fights taking place in different rings globally. Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr. was the highlight, but there were other interesting bouts as well. Tyson Fury vs Braun Strowman was another. Without dwelling much on the past year, we turn our focus on some of the biggest fights slated for 2020 that fans will relish.

#1. Errol Spence Jr. vs Terence Crawford

It has been a long time coming, and the World Welterweight champion must be known when these two fight this year. Spence has received a backing from Showtime, guaranteeing him a spot as the division’s top boxer. We have seen surprises on the ring before; we cannot rule out another.

#2. Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Mikey Garcia

Both boxers want this fight more than anything in the world, and so do the fans. If you are into placing boxing bets with Betway, then this one promises to be huge. Lomachenko is unbeaten since last losing to Orlando Salido, and Garcia hopes to upset the bookies. All we can do is wait.

#3. Callum Smith vs Canelo

All eyes will be on the Englishman to challenge Canelo to the end. He has been impressive over the past few fights he’s been engaged in, and his star looks to be rising. Canelo beat Liam Smith, Callum’s brother in 2016, and Callum will be looking to avenge. It doesn’t get any better.

#4. Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 2

Probably the most anticipated fight of the year 2020 by miles, and deservedly so. It is supposed to go down before the end of February, but there are logistics issues to be ironed out. Both men are unbeaten on the ring, and promoters are having a field day. Let’s hope it comes sooner.

#5. Oleksandr Usyk vs Unknown

Oleksandr’s opponent is yet to be announced following the late dismissal of former kickboxer Tyrone Spong. The match had been scheduled for October last year, only for Spong to be disqualified following a failed drug test. Oleksandr was 2018’s fighter of the year, and is fighting in a division that was once dominated by Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, and Deontay Wilder.

#6. Josh Warrington vs Leo Santa Cruz

This is a fight already looking like a potential classic. The two fighters are champions in their own right, and their titles will be at stake. Warrington holds the IBF title, while the Mexican has the WBA (Super) featherweight title. Here’s the catch; Santa Cruz’s only loss came in the hands of Carl Frampton in 2017, a man who has since fallen to Warrington.

#7. Manny Pacquiao vs Danny Garcia

Pacquiao is a man of many lives. Just when fans thought he was done, he pulled a couple of surprises, beating both Adrien Broner and Lucas Matthysse, before convincingly upsetting Keith Thurman for the WBA (super) welterweight title. Betting fans will surely relish this one which will feature on Betway, alongside many other boxing matches.
