Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer has reported Former world champion Miguel Cotto might be returning on September 28th in Brooklyn at the Barclay's Center. Cotto hasn't fought since his upset loss to Austin Trout. No opponent has been mentioned for the Puerto Rican superstar, who is the third biggest PPV draw in boxing. Schaefer has made the first step in putting the Barclay's Center on reserve. If Schaefer plans to have Cotto main even the September 28th card, it's very unlikely he'll be up against Saul Canelo Alavarez as many have speculated. September 14th is reserved for Mayweather which is a PPV card, and a Canelo-Cotto showdown is a PPV card type fight as well. Golden Boy wouldn't hold two PPV events only two weeks apart. It's very likely that Mayweather will be squaring off against Canelo Alvarez on September 14th, and Cotto will be facing someone else on the 28th. Regardless, the month of September is expected to be a huge month in boxing.
