Canelo-Golovkin deal is likely near

The WBC will be meeting up with both Golden Boy Promotions and K2 Promotions to hopefully finalize a deal that will put Saul Canelo Alvarez up against Gennady Golovkin sometime next year for the middleweight championship. While many want to see the fight happen immediately it's looking like September of next year is the date that they are shooting for. Canelo will fight in May and Golovkin will probably fight in February and June. There was no direct information on what is holding up the super-fight but speculation is that the weight limit could be an issue.

Canelo originally stated that he will only fight Golovkin at 155 while Golovkin said he will not go under 160. There is a chance that both fighters are looking to either meet somewhere in between or one of them will give into the other. The WBC is expecting to be done with everything by Monday.
