Nearly 30 years after first hitting the airwaves, the Boxeo Telemundo series remains as strong as ever.
The spring season produced consistent rating over the four week period, averaging 432,000 viewers per episode. Boxeo Telemundo remains the highest-rated Spanish-language boxing program, also outperforming most English-speaking networks as well.
Of the four installments, the most watched telecast came on March 3. Ironically, it featured a quick hit main event, with Antonio Moran's stunning 1st round knockout of Richard Zamora averaging 453,000 viewers.
"We've seen a nice mix of new talent and a few series favorites this season," All-Star Boxing's Felix "Tutico" Zabala Jr. told FightNights.com. "There have been thrilling knockouts, competitive clashes and Olympians showcased. We electsd to try a few new things and are grateful that the viewers have responded in kind."
The spring season finale saw hot prospect Sammy Valentin in his first main event. The 22-year old shone bright in the showcase, scoring a 1st round knockout of Jesus Rodriguez in his hometown of Tampa, Florida.
Valentin (11-0, 8KOs) will turn 23 by the time the summer series comes (July 7-28) and figures to return in similar capacity.
