The most exciting upcoming fights schedule

2018 has already started well, and it looks set to be an absolutely banner year for the sport that spent much of 2017 worrying about a sideshow fight between Mayweather and McGregor, which, while entertaining, was not something many boxing fans were crying out for. 2018 though will see some of the best boxers line up against one each and will hopefully bring some new breakthroughs from stars on the periphery of the big time.

There are so many great bouts to choose from that it is hard to know where to start. There are so many matchups that will enthrall us, that will grip us and that will entertain us. This year is likely to see some matches which go down in our memories as being important, memorable and most of all of very high quality.

We will see matches that we have been waiting for, new rivalries being born and some rematches that will be very special, enjoyable and hopefully produce fireworks. Get your calendars ready as you will need to write some dates down. These are some of the most exciting fights that are coming up soon. Fights you need to be counting down the days to, fights that you need to put money aside to pay for the pay per view for and fights that you need to make sure you tell your friends about so you can watch them all together.

Mikey Garcia vs Sergey Lipinets (10th of March)

This is going to be a big fight, a fight that could make history for American boxer Mikey Garcia, who will be taking on Kazakh boxer Sergey Litpnents in Texas on the 10th of March. Lipnets is unbeaten in his first 13 professional matches so is absolutely no mug and will provide stiff competition and give us a very interesting fight. However Garcia is the star of the show as he aims to pick up a world title in a fourth weight division. He has also, managed to pick up 37 wins and 0 losses during the course of his career. Lipnents might be good, but he will struggle to go one better than any of the other fighters who Garcia has seen off. We will either see history or the birth of a new star when they take each other on, make sure not to miss it out.

Joseph Parker vs Anthony Joshua (31st March)

Joshua seems to be the great big hope of Heavyweight boxing. For a long time, the division has been looking for fighter that can both dominate the division as well as looking very cool while doing it. The Klitschko brothers were excellent fighters, but they don’t sell like Joshua, Tyson Fury showed real class in his fights, but of course got in trouble with the authorities. Joshua then is the big draw when it come to the division and will get a huge audience when he takes on Parker in Cardiff. It is a fight which has got many people talking with a number of Joshua Parker predictions flying around, each with their own idea of how the fight is going to go. It will get people taking before and keep them talking after.

Gennady Golovkin vs Saul Alvarez (5th May)

This fight is arguably the biggest of all the ones set to come. Both fighters are at the top of their games, they are ranked first and fifth respectively in the pound for pound list put together by ring magazine and have lost just the one fight between them. This match, of course, is a rematch, with the last one having been a draw. It sets this one up beautifully for May, it will be a fight that will have fireworks, it will be one that has a great level of skill and most importantly, it will see two of the best in the world fight. It is everything a boxing fan wants and will be the event of the year.

David Haye vs Tony Bellew (5th May)

On the same night but much earlier time wise, owing to the time difference between the UK and the US, Tony Bellew will take on David Haye. The fight will not be able to match up in terms of quality with Golovkin vs Alvarez, but it is one with a great backstory that will see two passionate fighters match up. It is a great first course before the big one.
