Another boxer has failed a drug test. This time, it's junior welterweight Ryan Martin.
According to ESPN, the 25-year-old Martin (22-1, 12 KO's), of Cleveland, tested positive for a banned substance in a random drug test conducted the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association around his World Boxing Super Series quarterfinals fight against Josh Taylor in Glasgow, Scotland. The bout, which took place on Nov. 3 ended with Taylor dominating Martin and stopping him in seven rounds.
Martin took it to Instagram following the revelation.
"Boxing full of shit, I can't hold it back! ESPN full of shit," Martin said in a response to a text message with a link to ESPN's original story.
Martin never confirmed nor denied the validity of the test, but it is clear he is not very happy with the results.
We will have more on this development.
Martin is the latest fighter in the past week to get popped by VADA. Former middleweight world title challenger Willie Monroe Jr. tested positive for excessive levels of testosterone and was removed from the main event. Monroe, 32, was set to face Jermall Charlo on Saturday at Barclays Center.
