Bernard Hopkins predicts Canelo will knockout Bivol

Bernard Hopkins expects Canelo Alvarez to have an early Thanksgiving.

The Mexican superstar returns to the light heavyweight division Saturday night to challenge unbeaten WBA "Super" champion Dmitry Bivol at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The Hall of Famer and legendary former two-division world champion, who helped promote Alvarez as a partner in Golden Boy Promotions until Alvarez parted ways with the company in 2020, is picking Canelo to pick up his fourth consecutive knockout victory.

“He smashes him. Mashed potatoes all over the place. Another smash event, smashes him. I mean, people are really excited – yeah, to see Canelo, whether he can stay mentally and physically on top as he has been. That’s all we really looking for, people that know," Hopkins told FightHype.com.

The 57-year-old implied that Bivol's size advantage would be a factor over most fighters, but Alvarez is cut from a different cloth.

“If Canelo didn’t have the attributes, the talent that he has, yes. But that’s not the case, we’re talking fantasy if we’re talking about that, it’s a fantasy. Things are so basically one-sided from a person like myself and others out there that would agree. It’s about what Canelo wants to do, not what Bivol is going to do," he added.

Alvarez vs. Bivol will be streamed exclusively on DAZN Pay-Per View (PPV), excluding Latin America and Mexico.
