Teofimo Lopez (20-1, 13 KOs), a two-weight lineal champion who grew up in South Florida, will defend his WBO and Ring Magazine junior welterweight world titles against Canadian contender Steve Claggett. Lopez first won the IBF lightweight world title in 2019 and later unified the WBA, WBO, and WBC Franchise titles by defeating Vasiliy Lomachenko. Despite a surprising loss to George Kambosos Jr. in 2021, Lopez rebounded in 2022 by moving up to junior welterweight and securing the WBO and Ring Magazine titles with an upset win over Josh Taylor. Most recently, Lopez secured a decision victory over top contender Jamaine Ortiz in February.
Claggett (38-7-2, 26 KOs), a seasoned fighter from Calgary, Canada, has not lost a fight since 2021. In June 2023, the 35-year-old Claggett claimed the vacant NABF junior welterweight title by knocking out former world champion Alberto Machado in three rounds. He followed this by stopping Marcos Gonzalez Barraza in two rounds this January.
