Devin Haney vs Brian Norman Jr In The Works?

Devin Haney, the undefeated former two-division world champion, has set his sights on WBO welterweight titleholder Brian Norman Jr. for a high-stakes clash that could take place later this year. According to BoxingScene, negotiations are in the early stages, with Norman verbally agreeing to face Haney in a bout targeted for November, potentially backed by Saudi Arabia’s boxing financier Turki Alalshikh.

Haney (32-0, 15 KOs), coming off a unanimous decision victory over Jose Ramirez on May 2, 2025, in New York’s Times Square, is looking to rebound from a lackluster performance and capitalize on a marquee fight. After failed talks with Jaron “Boots” Ennis, who moved up to junior middleweight, and Teofimo Lopez, who withdrew from negotiations, Haney’s father and manager, Bill Haney, identified Norman as the next target. “We’ve made it clear it’s Devin Haney versus everybody, and Brian Norman Jnr is on that list,” Bill Haney told BoxingScene.

Norman (28-0, 22 KOs), fresh off a devastating fifth-round knockout of Jin Sasaki in Japan, has emerged as a rising star at 147 pounds. The 24-year-old Georgian, promoted by Top Rank, expressed his desire to fight Haney at the standard welterweight limit of 147 pounds, without catchweights or rehydration clauses, signaling confidence in his ability to compete against the slick-boxing Haney.
