Unbeaten super middleweight powerhouse Christian Mbilli is finally getting his long-awaited shot at world title glory. On Friday, June 27, Mbilli will square off against seasoned Polish contender Maciej Sulecki for the WBC Interim Super Middleweight World Title at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City, Canada.
Mbilli (28-0, 23 KOs), a Montreal-based fighter who represented France in the 2016 Olympics, has finished over 80% of his opponents inside the distance. Now, after years of climbing the ranks, he’s ready to seize the spotlight in his first interim title opportunity.
Standing in his way is Sulecki (33-3, 13 KOs), a former world title challenger who is coming off an eye-opening 10th-round stoppage victory over Ali Akhmedov in Kazakhstan.
Stacked Undercard
In the co-main event, former two-time world title challenger Steven Butler (35-5-2, 29 KOs) will look to avenge a stunning 2021 loss when he rematches Mexico’s Jose De Jesus Macias (29-13-4, 15 KOs). Macias shocked fans with a fifth-round TKO victory in their first meeting.
Also on the card, fearsome heavyweight puncher Arslanbek Makhmudov (19-2, 18 KOs) returns to action in a 10-round showdown against undefeated Ontario-based prospect Ricardo Brown (12-0, 11 KOs).
The card is promoted by Eye of the Tiger and will stream live exclusively on ESPN+ in the United States starting at 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT.
Fighter Quotes from Wednesday's Press Conference
Christian Mbilli:
“We’ve been waiting a long time for this moment, and now it’s here. Friday will be a glorious night. That belt is coming home.”
“After a tough training camp and everything I’ve pushed through, someone has to pay the price. I believe Sulecki will be the one to pay it.”
“I expect a spectacular fight—and as usual, I’ll walk away victorious.”
“I won’t promise a quicker knockout than Diego Pacheco got against him, but I guarantee a more punishing fight. If the KO comes, great—I’m not paid for overtime.”
Maciej Sulecki:
“It’s an honor to be here. I had a strong camp and great sparring. I’m ready for a war.”
“Mbilli is strong and aggressive—but sometimes reckless. I know what to expect, and I know what to do.”
“He may have big plans, but first he has to get through me. That’s not going to be easy.”
