Christian Mbilli Blasts Through Sulecki in One Round to Win WBC Interim Title in Quebec

Christian Mbilli made a thunderous statement on Friday night, stopping Maciej Sulecki in the very first round to claim the WBC Interim Super Middleweight World Title at the Videotron Centre.

Mbilli (29-0, 24 KOs), the undefeated Montreal-based contender, wasted no time asserting dominance, walking down Sulecki (33-4, 13 KOs) from the opening bell. Using precise jabs and relentless pressure, Mbilli trapped Sulecki along the ropes, where a brutal body attack softened the veteran before a right uppercut sent him crashing to the canvas.

Although Sulecki rose to his feet, referee Michael Griffin saw enough and waved off the bout at 2:28 of the opening round, awarding Mbilli his biggest career victory to date.

“I feel great. I feel very satisfied with my victory. The emotions are still settling, but I’m very happy,” said Mbilli after the fight. “I was expecting everything. I told myself that with every opportunity, he would pay for it. I knew that every time he’d leave an opening, I’d take advantage of it.”

The win further cements Mbilli as one of the most dangerous fighters in the super middleweight division and puts him in line for a potential shot at a full world title later this year.
