Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz Now Set to Face Omar Salcido in Super Lightweight Showdown on July 19 Pay-Per-View Event

Mexican star Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz will now face all-action contender Omar Salcido in a 10-round super lightweight bout on Saturday’s Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) Pay-Per-View on Prime Video, live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Cruz was originally slated to face Angel Fierro, who was forced to withdraw due to a medical emergency. Salcido, initially scheduled to appear on the non-televised undercard, steps in as the new opponent for Cruz.

The bout will be the second fight on a four-fight pay-per-view card headlined by boxing legend Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, who returns to the ring to challenge WBC Welterweight World Champion Mario “El Azteca” Barrios.

In the co-main event, WBC Super Welterweight World Champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora will rematch Australia’s Tim Tszyu in a follow-up to their 2024 thriller. The telecast begins at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, opening with a 12-round WBA Featherweight Title Eliminator between former unified champion Brandon “The Heartbreaker” Figueroa and contender Joet Gonzalez. Cruz vs. Salcido follows.

Fans can order the pay-per-view via Prime Video (no Prime membership required), traditional cable/satellite providers, or PPV.com. Tickets for the live event are available at AXS.com.

Fighter Profiles

ISAAC “PITBULL” CRUZ (27-3-1, 18 KOs)

Backed by a devoted Mexican fan base, Cruz captured the WBA Super Lightweight World Title in March 2024 with a statement TKO win over Rolly Romero, dropping Romero early and stopping him in round eight. In his most recent outing, Cruz defeated Angel Fierro by decision in February after a setback against Jose Valenzuela. The 26-year-old from Mexico City first burst onto the world stage with a first-round knockout of Diego Magdaleno in 2020, followed by wins over Francisco Vargas and Jose Matias Romero. Cruz, trained by his father Isaac Cruz Sr., also pushed Gervonta Davis to the limit in a competitive 2021 bout, becoming only the second fighter at that time to go the distance with the undefeated star.

OMAR SALCIDO (20-2, 14 KOs)

Originally from Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico, and now based in California, Salcido returns to the ring after a hard-fought decision loss to undefeated Olympic gold medalist Andy Cruz in January. The 25-year-old's breakout performance came in October 2024, when he stunned former interim champion Chris Colbert with a ninth-round knockout. Known for his relentless style, Salcido enters the fight looking to capitalize on this high-profile opportunity.
