It feels like the big fight night has lost its way a little in recent times, with the upcoming Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua bout perhaps the tip of the iceberg. But the turn of the year is almost upon us, and 2026 will hopefully provide a bit more sense, some fantastic fights and a return to the Las Vegas Strip for the biggest of those.
Nothing beats a Vegas fight night. The entire city comes alive. There’s an extra buzz in the air and the jingle jangle of slots is drowned out by the chitter chatter of anticipation, predictions and debate over who’ll take the belt.
The casinos become awash with fight fans, jousting themselves with the one-armed bandits, looking for prize pots that even Floyd Mayweather Jr would be happy with. That’s especially the case today, with the continued rise of the gambling industry, with new social casinos in USA continuing to evolve how we engage with casinos online, and that’s only generating more interest in it.
The Vegas fight night in 2026 could be a magical one as a result, with the town bustling, enjoying the slots before marching into the likes of the MGM Grand and T-Mobile Arena. But what fights would we love to see over the coming 12 months in the city?
Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk III
Oleksandr Usyk has his eyes on Deontay Wilder next, and it’s a fight that could well take centre stage in Las Vegas. That fight should get the go-ahead, in what could be an explosive bout, but what we’d like to see after that is a final instalment of Usyk v Fury.
Fury’s been out of the game, retired, for a while now, but would surely fancy a return for this. There are also rumours he’s finally going to touch gloves with Anthony Joshua, after his crossover fight with Paul in Saudi Arabia. Recent conversations in both AJ’s and TF’s camp have them finally meeting in the ring, but a bout between the Ukrainian and The Gypsy King could be scheduled for later on in 2026.
The fights would certainly do the numbers again; it’s got T-Mobile Arena written all over it as a rivalry reignites.
Gervonta Davis vs Shakur Stevenson
If any bout in modern boxing is perfectly suited to Sin City, it’s a potential blockbuster between Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson. Both are in their prim,e and both have contrasting styles that would make it a really intriguing fight.
It’s less of a boxing match, more a chess bout with the power of the Tank, Davis, taking on the defensive prowess and ring IQ of Stevenson. It’s a fight we all want to materialise, and should it happen, there would be no better place to do it.
The build-up alone would get fans purring, with Davis often criticized for avoiding the big fights, while Stevenson has repeatedly called him out. Could 2026 be the year?
Saul “Canelo” Álvarez vs David Benavidez
Canelo is no stranger to Las Vegas, and the ongoing tension between Alvarez and David Benavidez could see plenty of drama unfold in the ring. Benavidez has long been touted as the man who can dethrone Canelo, but the will they, won’t they continues to rumble on.
A Vegas showdown could see a real old-school brawl between the two, and many anticipate that it could be a classic. It’s the fight everyone wants, so it’s about putting their egos aside and agreeing on a deal. It’s already been far too long.
Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney II
Speaking of volatile relationships, Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney already have a fierce rivalry and have already met in the ring, only for the result to be judged a no-contest due to Garcia failing a drugs test.
A rematch would be a chance for Garcia to silence critics, while Haney would love the opportunity of another crack at the 27-year-old Californian. The narrative around what’s already gone on makes it a perfect fight for Vegas. It’s often the stories around the fights that define them. We saw a great fight last time, so it would be good to get a fair one this time round.
