Sebastian Fundora Dominates Thurman

Sebastian Fundora delivered a dominant statement win Saturday night, stopping Keith Thurman via sixth-round TKO to retain his WBC super welterweight title in Las Vegas.

From the opening bell, Fundora controlled the fight with his length, jab, and constant pressure, never allowing Thurman to settle into any kind of rhythm. The former unified welterweight champion looked tentative early and struggled to close the distance against the much taller champion. Fundora repeatedly snapped Thurman’s head back with straight shots and built momentum as the rounds progressed.

By the middle rounds, the damage was clear. Thurman’s face showed the effects of Fundora’s accuracy and volume, and despite moments of effort, he was unable to turn the tide. In round six, Fundora poured on the pressure, unleashing a sustained attack that forced the referee to step in and stop the fight at 1:17 of the round.

With the victory, Fundora improves to 24-1-1 and further establishes himself as one of the top fighters at 154 pounds, while the loss leaves serious questions about Thurman’s future in the sport.

On the undercard, several rising names delivered strong performances:

Yoenis Tellez scored a clear unanimous decision win over Brian Mendoza, using his activity and sharper work across ten rounds to control the fight.

Yoenli Hernandez impressed with a fourth-round TKO over veteran Terrell Gausha, continuing his rise in the middleweight division.

Heavyweight prospect Gurgen Hovhannisyan remained unbeaten with a fifth-round TKO victory against Cesar Navarro.

In preliminary action, Kevin Newman II earned a majority decision over Elijah Garcia in a competitive bout, while Brayan Gonzalez stopped Brandon Medina via fifth-round TKO. Kaipo Gallegos also picked up a unanimous decision win over Julian Gonzalez.

Overall, the night belonged to Fundora, who not only retained his title but did so in emphatic fashion, potentially setting up major fights against the division’s top contenders moving forward.
