Callum Smith’s April 18 light heavyweight fight against David Morrell has been canceled, according to The Ring.
Smith (31-2, 22 KOs) had been scheduled to defend his WBO interim title against the Cuban contender in his hometown of Liverpool at the M&S Bank Arena. The bout’s cancellation is reportedly due to an injury, though no details have been disclosed.
The former world champion has not competed since February 2025, and it remains uncertain whether the fight will be rescheduled.
Morrell (12-1, 9 KOs) had been set to fight outside the United States for the first time in his professional career.
In The Ring’s light heavyweight rankings, Smith is No. 3, while Morrell is No. 6.
