Emanuel Navarrete vs O’Shaquie Foster Targets October 24 Showdown
Emanuel Navarrete and O’Shaquie Foster are reportedly moving closer to a major junior lightweight unification fight.
Navarrete and Foster are in talks for a showdown targeted for October 24 in San Antonio, Texas, with three world titles potentially on the line. Navarrete currently holds the WBO and IBF titles at 130 pounds, while Foster holds the WBC championship.
The matchup would bring together two of the division’s top fighters. Navarrete added the IBF belt earlier this year with an 11th-round stoppage of Eduardo “Sugar” Nunez, while Foster has continued pushing for an opportunity to unify the division. Foster previously said of facing Navarrete, “Let’s make it happen.” (The Ring)
Although October 24 and San Antonio are now being circulated as the target, the fight has not yet received a formal announcement.
If finalized, Navarrete-Foster would be one of the biggest fights available at 130 pounds and put the winner in position to further establish himself as the division’s top fighter.
