Jose Valenzuela vs Diego Torres Announced For Feb 1

Zuffa Boxing, the new boxing promotion backed by the UFC’s parent company, is moving fast. Just weeks after launching its debut card, the organization has announced its second event set for Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the UFC Apex (also referred to as Meta Apex) in Las Vegas. The show will stream live on Paramount+.

Headlining the card is a compelling 10-round matchup featuring former world champion Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela (14-3, 9 KOs) against the hard-hitting Diego “Azabache” Torres (22-1, 19 KOs).

Valenzuela, the 26-year-old southpaw from Los Mochis, Mexico (fighting out of Renton, Washington), captured the WBA super lightweight title in 2024 but dropped it in a unanimous decision loss to Gary Antuanne Russell in March 2025. After a strong run—including wins over Isaac Cruz and Chris Colbert—“Rayo” now looks to rebound and rebuild momentum under the Zuffa banner. Known for his sharp boxing skills and power, he’s a fan favorite with explosive potential.

Torres, the 28-year-old from Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, brings serious knockout firepower with an impressive 86% KO rate. The lightweight standout has been dominant in recent years, though his sole loss adds intrigue to this clash. While Valenzuela has campaigned at junior welterweight (140 lbs) lately and Torres is primarily a lightweight, reports indicate the bout will proceed at a catchweight (details still pending).

This fight serves as the main event for Zuffa Boxing’s quick follow-up show, signaling the promotion’s aggressive schedule as it establishes itself in the sport. Additional bouts may be added soon, but Valenzuela vs. Torres already promises fireworks—two aggressive fighters with power and unfinished business.

Fight fans can catch the action live from Las Vegas on February 1 via Paramount+. Stay tuned for weigh-in updates and full card announcements!
