Tim Tszyu Seeks Redemption in Rematch with Sebastian Fundora on July 19 in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV (July 10, 2025) – Former WBO world champion and Australian fan-favorite Tim Tszyu is determined to rewrite the script when he steps back into the ring for a high-stakes rematch against WBC Super Welterweight Champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora. The bout takes place Saturday, July 19 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas as the co-main event of a stacked PBC Pay-Per-View on Prime Video card headlined by Manny Pacquiao vs. Mario Barrios.

The first meeting between Tszyu and Fundora in March ended in controversy and frustration for the Aussie, who suffered a deep cut in the third round from an inadvertent elbow. Despite the injury and heavy blood loss, Tszyu elected to fight on, ultimately losing a narrow decision and surrendering his WBO title along with the then-vacant WBC belt to Fundora.

Now, with a full training camp dedicated to Fundora’s unique skill set and towering 6-foot-6 frame, Tszyu is ready to even the score.

“This is unfinished business for sure,” Tszyu told reporters during his media workout at Split T Boxing Club in Las Vegas. “I wasn’t able to show myself completely the first time, and now I get to rewrite history.”

While Fundora’s unorthodox style and physical advantages present a unique challenge, Tszyu expressed confidence in the adjustments his team has made in camp.

“It’s hard for anyone to adjust to Fundora’s height. It’s a core advantage that he’s got. But there’s little things we have prepared for it,” said Tszyu. “This time it’s 100% Fundora focused.”

Despite the intensity of the matchup, Tszyu maintained that the animosity between the two isn’t personal—but professional pride is on the line.

“I wouldn’t say there’s bad blood, but I wanna take his head off. I’ve got a lot to prove,” Tszyu said. “This is gonna be a fan-friendly fight.”

This bout marks Tszyu’s first appearance since the Fundora loss, and he emphasized the importance of staying composed and disciplined.

“I feel like the knockout is gonna come. I just have to stay patient. About a year ago I was going too much for it. When it comes, it comes.”

The 29-year-old also reflected on the magnitude of the occasion, which will see him share the global stage with boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, who returns in the main event to challenge Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title.

“This is a massive card with Manny coming back to do historic things. This card has everything. It’s a real global boxing stage,” said Tszyu. “It’s gonna be a hell of a show. I really think it’s gonna be the card of the year.”

With final preparations nearly complete, Tszyu is locked in and ready for July 19.

“The most important thing at this point in training camp is staying loose. The hard work is nearly finished. I’m feeling nice and sharp and staying relaxed.”
