Jeter Promotions to features Tony Jeter on May 11th

MILLERSVILLE, Md. (March 27, 2013) -- On Saturday, May 11, Jeter Promotions will stage its first professional show of 2013 when it presents two championship bouts at Club One Fitness in Millersville, Md.

In the main event, top 15 world-ranked middleweight and WBC FECARBOX champion Tony “Mo’ Better” Jeter (15-3-1, 10 KOs) will return to action for the first time since thoroughly annihilating Jimmy Lange, a perennial contender who was in the running to fight Austin Trout last fall, over 10 rounds this past October. His opponent for this fight will be finalized soon.

Jeter, the 2012 Boxing Along the Beltway fighter of the year, will be defending his title for the first time since winning it in thrilling fashion with a round five TKO stoppage of the much bigger Tyrell Brown, who has spent most of his career at light heavyweight and super middleweight, in September.

“I am on the verge of something big in the middleweight division,” Jeter said. “2013 is going to be not only big year for myself, but a big year for boxing fans in Maryland and for Jeter Promotions.

“We are putting on TV quality fights at club show prices. No one in the state of Maryland is doing what we are doing at Jeter Promotions.”

In the co-main event, Brooklyn knockout artist Phillip Jackson-Benson will take on Baltimore’s Maxell “The General” Taylor for the vacant WBC FECARBOX super middleweight championship. Jackson-Benson, who is coming off an emphatic first round technical knockout of John Terry on March 2, sports an 11-1 record with 10 knockouts and has quickly become a fan favorite in the Washington, D.C., metro area. His opponent, Taylor, the brother of welterweight contender Emmanuel Taylor, has an impressive record of 18-4-1, with eight knockouts and was last in action on Dec. 1 when he scored a dominant unanimous decision win over Nathan Bedwell.

The card will also mark the return of popular Washington, D.C., area heavyweight Dwayne “Big Ticket” McRae (10-3, 6KOs) who will be taking on Dennis Benson (1-6, 1KO) in a scheduled six-round bout.

Also slated to appear on the card are undefeated Baltimore/Washington fan favorites: welterweight James “Keep’em Sleepin” Stevenson (18-0, 11KOs), cruiserweight “Slick” Nick Kisner (11-0-1, 5KOs), middleweight Sherman Artis Jr. (2-0), and Brady Sensibaugh (1-0).
