August 8, 2013 (Brooklyn, NY) – One of New York City’s fastest rising and exciting Junior-Middleweight prospects, Frank ‘Notorious’ Galarza, is now a proud member of the ‘Fight for Peace’ organization. Fight for Peace is a non-profit organization, that was founded by Luke Dowdney in 2000. This unique program has blended boxing, education, and youth services, to help promote peace and personal development to young children living in environments of poor social and economic backgrounds.
On August 10, Galarza will be embarking on a one week trip to Fight for Peace’s home-base, Brazil, to learn the organization values and practices. He will be bringing with him his own personal knowledge of dealing with hardships, as well as his boxing skill and most of all, his charisma which has made him one of New York’s best ticket sellers. Galarza will be dealing personally with some of Brazil’s most at-risk youth, and he plans on using what he has learned, to establish a Fight for Peace base in his native Brooklyn, NY at the Starrett City Boxing Club. “Before you become a champion inside the ring, you have to be one outside the ring.” Stated Galarza, “I’m extremely excited to be part of the Fight for Peace team. I am looking forward to going to Brazil and being an ambassador of not only boxing, but peace. This experience will definitely teach me so much, and I plan on implementing this program here in Brooklyn.”
No stranger to giving back, Galarza is in the process of setting up his own non-profit organization, “Fighting Forward”. Not to be lost in his admirable work outside the ring, ‘Notorious’ is quick to point out that boxing is where his mind is at, at all times. “My training and boxing is still priority number 1. We resumed training immediately after my last victory, and my next match is September 21. I plan on staying undefeated, and rising up the ranks. I am blessed to have a great team around me who support my efforts with Fight for Peace, and they have been behind me 100%.”
Frank Galarza (10-0-2) will be competing on September 21 in an 8 round junior-middleweight match at the Resorts World Casino in Queens, NY. An opponent has yet to be named.
