Chavez Jr comes in at 172.4, Vera 171.2

The most debatable topic in boxing this week has finally come to an end. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr tipped the scales at 172.4 earlier for his bout against Brian Vera at the StubHub Center in Carson, CA Saturday night. Vera came in at 171.2. The controversial subject of weight started earlier this week when it was reported that Chavez Jr. wouldn't be able to make the 168 limit written in the contract. Some reports stated that Top Rank owner Bob Arum had to pay Vera's camp a pretty big sum of money in order to get Vera to agree to move the limit up to 173. The fight will be shown on HBO tomorrow night starting at 10:15pm EST.
