Former world champion Andre Berto (28-3, 22 KO's) took to Twitter to announce that he will be returning to the ring in September on Showtime.
"Sept 6 we back on @shosports. Just want to thank everybody for all the support coming off this." Berto tweeted.
The September 6th card could be a tripleheader that will also feature Adrien Broner and Lucas Matthysse in seperate bouts. It's unclear whether or not Showtime and Golden Boy will look to push one of those fighter's back a week to be featured on the September 13th PPV showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana.
Berto has had a rollercoaster of a career the last couple years, and has lost three of his last four fights. Injuries have plagued Berto throughout his last two years of his career including a shouler injury in his last fight against Jesus Soto-Karass where he was stopped in the 12th round. Once considered one of the hottest prospects in boxing, Berto will be looking to restart his career this September.
