Golovkin crushes Geale, calls out Cotto

Gennady Golovkin left the fans wanting more in Madison Square Garden earlier tonight as he demolished Danny Geale, his toughest test to date, in just three rounds. Golovkin improved to 30-0, with 27 KO’s with the victory. The third round KO win is the 17th straight knockout for Golovkin dating back to 2008. Geale was knocked out for the first time in his career as he fell to 30-3, 16 KO’s.

Geale was never really a threat in the fight, though he used some very good lateral movement as well as some good head feints to frustrate Golovkin a few times in the short fight. Golovkin’s jab was key, and his ability to cut the ring off is what sealed the night for Geale. It was Geale that actually landed the first punch in an exchange that sent him to the canvas. Geale beat the ten count but nodded his head no when the referee asked if he could continue. After the fight, Golokvin said what many fans at Madison Square Garden wanted him to say.

“I want Miguel Cotto next.”
