Next for Canelo HBO or Showtime & Clottey?

Canelo Alvarez is set to return this December 6th @ Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas, USA. Although nothing is official, former champion Joshua Clottey (38-4, 22KOs) is apparently a leading candidate to face the Mexican superstar. The bout will not be on pay-per-view & unsure as to what network will air the bout, HBO or Showtime.

I spoke to Clottey briefly and while he stated that he could not say much he did state that they're in talks with camp Alvarez.

Clottey has been busy over the past 2 years. His last fight with Anthony Mundine in April of this year he won by wide margin. Clottey could pose as a dangerous match up for Canelo. Clottey has never been KO'd & he does like to stand in the pocket and trade punches. The problem with Clottey is that he tends to get gun shy and does not pull the trigger enough. It will be an interesting fight even tho a lot of boxing fans seem to disagree.

We'll have an interview with Joshua Clottey when / if the fight is made official.

A side note, we could see a HBO/Showtime event IF…. IF.. Mayweather vs Pacquiao happens this spring. Arum spoke to SI.com and stated that both HBO & Showtime want the fight.

Lets hope the "cold war" ends and we see some great match ups.
