Virgil Hunter is taking part of the blame for Khan's performance Saturday night against Chris Algieri. Khan stated that he felt that Virgil over trained him for the fight, and he was doing things in training camp that he wasn't used to doing. He also stated that he felt that he overtrained for the fight putting in 12-13 weeks in training camp. Regardless of whether or not Hunter is there for the next fight, Hunter didn't seem to confident Khan could beat Mayweather right now.
“When it comes to Floyd, Amir will have to fight over his head, like Douglas did against Mike Tyson,” Hunter said to the Dailymail.co.uk. “He will have to find a way to take it to another level altogether.”
Giving a good account of yourself and believing you can win are very different concepts.
