WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) knocked out WBC #7 Eric Molina (23-3, 17 KOs) Saturday night at Bartow Arena in Birmingham, Alabama on HBO boxing main event. Many expected Molina not to last more then four rounds. However not only did he prove us wrong he fought one hell of a fight.
Wilder started strong using his snapping whipping jab. In round three Molina rocked Wilder staggering him with a left hook. Wilder dropped Molina in round four with a hook then again twice in round five. Molina, hung tough and fought back landing well to the body. The fight ended when Wilder closed the fight in round nine dropping Molina hard. Molina could not get up for the 10 count.
Alexander Povetkin who recently won with an impressive knockout is the mandatory challenger for Deontay Wilder.
