Matthysse-Postol Negotiations Begin

Recently Danny Garcia, vacated the World Boxing Council junior welterweight title. Garcia has not defended the title since 2014 and his last two fights took place at a catch-weight above 140lbs. He has an upcoming welterweight fight against Paulie Malignaggi @ Barclays Center Saturday, August 1st on ESPN.

Lucas Matthysse (37-3, 34KOs) & Ukrainian Viktor Postol (27-0, 11KOs) are looking to capture the vacated junior welterweight belt. Following Garcia's decision World Boxing Council order the fight to happen. Both teams are very interested in the bout and looking to set up a fight this Fall. Vadim Kornilov, Postol's manager stated that negotiations for the fight have already begun and that the fight will be in the USA.

Viktor Postol is undefeated. He last fought this April at the Barclays Center, Brooklyn against Jake Giuriceo. Lucas Matthysse won his last fight against Ruslan Provodnikov also in April.
