Mikkel Kessler Officially Announces Retirement

After holding a small door open for months and talks of a rematch with Andre Ward or a rubber match with Carl Froch. Now we can putt all that to rest, "The Viking Warrior" has officially said, "Its over". Kessler leaves boxing a wealthy, famous man with an outstanding career that effectively ended after the loss to Carl Froch in May 2013. He goes out at 46-3.

"I've been ready to take the final game if the right fight came, but now there's been too long, I'm not boxing anymore" says Kessler.

Kessler was world champion at super middleweight for several periods. He won his first WBA title against Manny Siaca in 2004 - Kessler got the fight of a cancellation, when Mads Larsen was injured up to his fight against Siaca. Kessler got his chance and stopped Siaca in seventh round.

He has fought some of the best fighters in the sport, Carl Froch, Andre Ward and Joe Calzaghe
