According to multiple sources in the industry a fight between IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (35-0, 24 KO's) and Brandon Rios (33-2-1, 24 KO's) is starting to get close to being finalized for September 12th in the UK. Eddie Hearn and Bob Arum are working out the details to get the fight done. Some UK sites have reported that the fight is already done however that is not the case. Arum says that there are still some things that need to be worked out. He also said that if for some strange reason a Brook-Rios fight falls through, his back up plan for Brandon Rios would be Ruslan Provodnikov. Though, Arum sees no issues with the Brook-Rios fight being made.
Brandon Rios has been in some tough fights over the last three years, fighting Mike Alvarado three times, Diego Chaves, and Manny Pacquiao. The list doesn't get any easier with Kell Brook on deck. Brook's biggest win came last year when he defeated Shawn Porter. Since then he has had two victories where he was heavily favored. Brook has been looking to land big names since the Porter fight, most notably Floyd Mayweather and Amir Khan, but he has been unable to land either. A potential Brook-Rios fight will likely go up against a Mayweather PPV also expected to be Septemeber 12th. Brook-Rios would likely be aired live in the United States in the early afternoon.
