Added to the Showtime event featuring Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Marcos Reyes is one of boxing's raising stars junior welterweights Amir Imam (17-0, 14 KOs) . He will be taking on Fernando Angulo (29-9, 16 KOs) in a 10-round bout at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas. This will be a televised network bout.
Imam, 24, of Albany, New York, had his last fight on Showtime as well, easily outpointing Walter Castillo on April 18. Angulo, 34, of Ecuador, has won five fights in a row. He has fought once before on Showtime, back in 2006, when he lost a decision in a lightweight world title bout to Juan Diaz.
The winner of Imam-Angulo will be in line for a title shot against the winner of the vacant title fight between Lucas Matthysse and Viktor Postol, who will meet this fall on a date to be determined.
