Chavez Jr. is coming off a win against middleweight Marcos Reyes (33-3, 24 KOs) by a 10 round unanimous decision last Saturday night on Showtime. He recently spoke to ESPN Deportes and stated that he would like to stay active and fight Lucian Bute. “I need to be active. When I don’t fight is when I have more problems. So we think that I can go back in October. We talked about a couple of names, among them being Lucien Bute, but first I have to be okay with my hand and not give advantage.”
Bute, is scheduled to fight against Andrea Di Luisa (17-2, 13 KOs) in a 10 round bout on August 15th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.
However, weight is always an issue with Chavez and Bute is a Super middleweight. In Chavez Jr. last fight against Marcos Reyes, he could not make the weight limit and the night of the fight he was clearly 190lbs.
