Jorge 'Golden Boy' Linares will defend his WBC lightweight title against Mexican challenger Ivan 'Macanón' Cano on October 10th in Caracas Polyhedron. This will be Linares first fight in his homeland of Venezuela in more then five years and thirteen pro fights.
Linares is coming off three consecutive knockouts. in his last fight he defeated Kevin Mitchell by TKO in the tenth round @ O2 Arena (Millenium Dome), Greenwich, London, United Kingdom. He has not lost a fight since 2012 when he lost by TKO against Sergio Thompson. That fight was back to back lost against Antonio DeMarco in 2011 also by TKO. He won the vacant WBC World lightweight title against Javier Prieto in 2014.
Ivan Cano, fought Javier Prieto twics in 2014 both fights ended in a draw. In his last outing he fought John Carlo Aparicio iand won by UD over ten rounds, scores: judges: Jose Luis Bustamante 100-90, Luis Fitch 100-90, Gamaliel Azcorra 100-90.
