David Sanchez (28-2-2, 22 KOs), of Mexico, will defend his interim junior bantamweight belt against Luis Concepcion (32-4, 23 KOs), of Panama, on Sept. 19th. The fight will take place @ Centro de Usos Multiples Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico on Mexico AztecaTV. This is a scheduled twelve round bout.
David Sanchez has not lost since 2010 when he faced Mario Macias. The fight was a close eight round split decision, scores: judges: Alejandro Camacho Perez 75-77, Rodolfo Sanchez 75-77, Javier Camacho 77-75. Sanchez is coming off two consecutive knockout win this year against Juan Alberto Rosas & Walberto Ramos.
Recently Luis Concepcion ended a nine-fight winning streak when he lost to Carlos Cuadras this past April. The fight end with Cuadras winning by UD over 12 rounds, scores: judges: Kevin Scott 111-117, Nathan Palmer 111-117, Steve Morrow 110-118.
"It's a fight that means a lot to me," Sanchez, 23, said at the news conference announcing the bout. “It will be a give-and-take fight. Concepcion is a great fighter, but we are preparing very well. I look for great things in boxing. I want to grow, to become someone as great as Julio Cesar Chavez, and I think we have what it takes to achieve it.”
“I'm ready for anything,” Concepcion said. “In 2011, Marquez caught me cold. But I'm well-prepared to bring this title to my country.”
