Undefeated WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KO's) has finally found someone to tangle in the ring with on January 16th at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn. Wilder will be taking on the fan friendly Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KO'). Szpilka was the front runner to take the fight after Glazkov pulled out just weeks ago. However the negotiations seem to have halted along the way. Wilder was playing with the idea of facing guys like Shannon Briggs, Bermane Stiverne, and Amir Mansour. It appears that whatever stumbling block that held up the negotiations with Szpilka was resolved.
The 6'3 Szpilka is a fan friendly fighter with a pressuring style that is always fun to watch. He's got some power behind his punches. His sole loss came at the hands of Bryant Jennings last year. Since then he is 4-0, 3 KO's. He's expected to be a nice test for Wilder.
