Following his knockout victory over Artur Szpilka Saturday night at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, Deontay Wilder didn't get much of a celebration as fellow heavyweight champion Tyson Fury entered the ring during the post fight interview to speak his mind.
"There's only one Tyson Fury." Fury yelled. "What you think about that Deontay? Any time, any place, anywhere. I'll fight you in your backyard after I beat (Wladimir) Klitschko again."
Wilder kept his composure not allowing the exchange to get physical but he didn't shut his mouth.
"We all know Fury is just a phony," Wilder said. "This is just an act. I'm not scared of anybody. We'll come to your backyard. This is just an act - you're not a real fighter. I don't play. This isn't wrestling. When you do step in that ring with me I promise you I will baptize you.
"I would love to fight him next, unfortunately, I have other mandatories due. Make the date Tyson, I promise you."
Both fighters have been Twitter battling for the past two years. Since Fury defeated Klitschko the battle on social media has escalated with both guys claiming they are the king of the heavyweight division. Fury has to fight Klitschko again, and Wilder must defend his title against Alexander Povetkin. If both fighters win then a clash is inevitable.
