This Saturday, July 15 on HBO features an action packed triple-header at the Forum Inglewood, California, USA. Starting at 9:50 pm ET. The main event take place at 130LBS for the WBC World super featherweight title. Miguel Berchelt defends his WBC title against #5 ranked Takashi Miura.

Miguel Berchelt

  • Record: 31-1 (28 KO)
  • Last 10: 10-0
  • Stance: Orthodox
  • Height/Reach: 5'7" / 71"
  • Age: 25

Miguel Berchelt is coming off a 10 win 10 knockout streak since his only lost in 2014 to Luis Eduardo Florez when he got knocked out in the first round. Berchelt sports an impressive 88% knockout ratio. In his last fight he took on Francisco Vargas this past January winning by Ko in the 11th round. During the fight Vargas was cut on bridge of nose and cut over the right eye. Then another cut on the left eye from accidental headbutt.

Miguel Berchelt is no joke this guy can bring some real heat. However his record is a bit lackluster. Not a lot of good opposition on is resume. His win over Francisco Vargas was the best to date.

Takashi Miura

  • Record: 31-3-2 (24 KO)
  • Last 10: 9-1
  • Stance: Southpaw
  • Height/Reach: 5'6½" / 70"
  • Age: 33

Takashi Miura is coming off a 2 win 2 knockout streak. We last saw him in the ring against Miguel Roman this past January. He won by KO in the 12th round. During that fight Roman was down in 10 & 11th rounds the counted out in 12. Roman cut right eye from accidental headbutt.

Miura also fought Francisco Vargas in November of last year but lost by a 9th round TKO. Vargas was down in round four and Miura down in round nine. The only other lost on his record is from 2011 against Takashi Uchiyama.

Miura is slick in the ring and sports a better resume, winning over Roman, Dante Jardon, Billy Dib, Sergio Thompson and Gamaliel Diaz.

This fight is going to be interesting and could be a “fight of the year”. I highly recommend tuning in and watching.
