Fort Worth, TX (October 17, 2017)--Roy Jones Jr. Promotions proudly announce the signing of up and coming prospect and Fort Worth, TX native Edward "Kid" Vazquez to a promotional agreement.
The 22-year-old Vazquez is not only coming off of a unanimous decision victory on Sept. 29, but he also walked away with a promotional agreement with Roy Jones Jr. Promotions.
Love, passion, and knowledge of the sport, Vazquez chose to pursue his career at the young age of 8yrs old, leaving his amateur career with a record of 82 victories and only 8 defeats, was a former State Champion, Jr. Olympics semi-finalist and was ranked 5th. The support and guidance from his parents have helped Vazquez remain humbled in what he loves to do and choose boxing over school. He felt that the lesson of life can be taught and learned in a nontraditional way.
“This is what I have worked for every single day since I was a young kid,” said Edward. “No one can outwork me! I look forward to giving it my all, and I can't wait to show my value to Keith Veltre, Roy Jones, Jr. and the rest of RJJ." Lastly, he stated, "I hope this can be an inspiration to the youngins coming up under me, with hard work and determination anything can be possible."
As a professional, Vazquez has earned a 3-0-0 record, and two of those victories are under the training of Coach Ray Barrera as well as his manager Casey Gutierrez, President of FHG. Youth, initiative, work ethic, and his sparring techniques are what bridged the gap between Vazquez and his team to sign the deal and welcome Vazquez to the FHG (Faith, Hope & Gloves) family.
His manager, Casey Gutierrez stated, "Edward is a breath of fresh air. He has an outstanding drive, work ethic, and talent which will fit right in with Roy Jones, Jr. Boxing. At his young age, he has built a considerable following I'm sure will be excited to hear the news of landing with such quality promotion company. Many thanks to Mr. Keith Veltre, Roy Jones, Jr., and congrats to Edward "Kid" Vazquez."
"Roy and I were excited to sign Vazquez," stated Keith Veltre, CEO / C)-Founder of Roy Jones Jr. Promotions. " He is durable and an exciting fighter. Vazquez will make a great addition to the RJJ stable, and you will see this young warrior opening our TV fights on beIN SPORTS in the upcoming months."
