Sor Rungvisai defends title with majority decision victory over Estrada in all-out war

95 percent of his punches were power shots, and it prevailed him to victory Saturday night in an all-out war at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

Srisaket Sor Rungvisai defeated Juan Francisco Estrada by majority decision in the HBO main event.

One judge had it even, while scores of 115-113, and 117-111 gave the victory to the 31-year-old Thai native, who defended his WBC super flyweight title for the third time.

FightNights.com scored the bout 115-113 for Sor Rungvisai.

“It was a very good fight, he hits very hard, and I like his style – I know I won the fight,” said Sor Rungvisai through a translator.

“The difference between now and other points in my career is now I have the support of the people of Thailand. I will fight anybody at 115. I'll fight Estrada again."

Sor Rungvisai (44-4-1, 39 KO's) controlled the first half of the bout with hard straight left hands and crisp shots to the body.

However, Estrada (36-3, 25 KO's), 27, of Mexico, whose body language showed signs of concern after Round 6, rallied back to make it a close fight.

Estrada found success early countering Sor Rungvisai coming in, and he picked it up down the stretch.

In the eighth round, Estrada landed two hard left hands, the latter knocking Sor Rungvisai back as he started to box smarter and more efficiently.

Estrada also won the ninth round as he began to move around the ring, confusing Sor Rungvisai with head movement, and banging with hard left hands.

However, it was not enough to convince the three judges to give him the decision.

They poured it out in the 12th in a potential Round of the Year candidate, and Sor Rungvisai did just enough to keep his belt.
