Saul Canelo Alvarez has been suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission following two positive test results for Clenbuterol in VADA testing that occurred on February 17th and February 20th. An original Golden Boy Press Release stated that Canelo had only tested positive once, and that the levels of Clenbuterol were compared to levels that would be found in eating meat in Mexico, which is known to have contamination issues across the country. The press release never stated that Canelo had failed two tests.
Canelo is scheduled for a hearing on April 10th with the NSAC putting his scheduled fight against Gennady Golovkin for May 5th in question.
