Who will win Saturday night's welterweight unification title bout between IBF titleholder Errol Spence Jr. and WBC champ Shawn Porter at Staples Center in Los Angeles?
Spence (25-0, 21 KO’s) is coming off a dominant unanimous decision victory over Mikey Garcia in March. Porter (30-2-1, 17 KO’s) defeated Yordenis Ugas by a very controversial split decision also in March
Who takes the win? Our experts make their picks.
Michael Gonzalez: Spence by decision
I don't think this is going to be as easy for Spence as some believe. Porter makes everybody look bad. However, I believe Spence will win. It's going to be a sloppy fight. But Porter can absolutely win. It's going to be Spence's toughest fight to date.
Ryan O’Hara: Spence by decision
Porter will try to make it a dog fight in the early rounds. He will do what he has to do to make the fight competitive. However, Spence is a pound-for-pound talent with world-class hand speed, great counter-punching skills from the high guard, and punch accuracy. I think Porter hits the deck late but this goes the distance. 116-111.
Cameron Gillon: Spence by decision
I'm picking Errol Spence by UD.
I think Porter will make it competitive in parts, its very difficult to look good against a style that he posses, but I feel Spence provides his best work against fighters that come forward and leave openings for him to land his big shots. I see a knockdown scored for Spence before he takes over and wins majority of the second half of the fight and we see the first clinical loss for Porter.
Gabriel Gonzalez: Spence by decision
Because he’s better.
