David Price to step in against Chisora in all-British heavyweight bout

Former heavyweight world title challenger Dereck Chisora will face David Price on October 26 in all-British showdown.

Chisora (31-9, 22 KO’s), 35, was slated to face Joseph Parker until the former world champion withdrew after he was reportedly bitten by a spider and became ill.

Price (25-6, 20 KO’s), 36, has won three fights in a row. However, he has been knocked out in all six of his professional defeats. Chisora has won three of his last five bouts by knockout, including a second-round destruction of former title challenger Artur Szpilka in July.

Price has stayed in shape, though, and is ready to give Chisora a run for his money.

"I kept in the gym all summer as I had a feeling I had to be ready for a call like this, and ready I am," Price told reporters.

The bout, which will take place at The O2 Arena in London, will be on the undercard of the world title fight between super-lightweights Josh Taylor and Regis Prograis which is also the final of the World Boxing Super Series.

Chisora had previously threatened to leave the card if he was not paid more money, but it appears he has decided to cast his displeasure elsewhere as he prepares to take on Price.

“David Price has stepped up and I’m ready for whatever he brings. This is north versus south and in my home town I write the rules.

"It was frustrating to lose the Parker fight but I feel we now have a fight with even more curiosity and danger," said Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn. "The careers of both men are on the line, they will be giving it everything. It's going to be a dramatic fight and dramatic night.”
