Fights to look out for in 2022

There’s no doubt that boxing fans have got a lot to look forward to in 2022. There’s plenty of speculation about some fantastic bouts. This article rounds up all the rumors and gives you the definitive list of potential fights to look out for next year.

PACQUIAO vs. SPENCE JR.

This is the fight that every boxing fan wants to see. There’s already an agreement in place for this super-fight to take place next year. It’s scheduled to happen in either April or May in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The main obstacles were negotiating the purse and drug testing procedures. Now both of those issues have been resolved, it seems as if the only thing left is for the two pugilists to get fit enough to step into the ring together.

JOSHUA vs. FURY

This is a fight that practically every boxing fan is crying out for! These two heavyweights were meant to battle it out this year. However, neither side could settle terms during negotiations and the bout has been pushed back repeatedly ever since.

Hopefully, both contenders will be ready for the ring next year. After all, this one has already been dubbed the “biggest fight in British boxing history.” No doubt it will attract plenty of international attention as well given the profile of the two fighters. Fingers crossed we get to see this one soon!

USYK vs. JOSHUA

We saw the coronation of Oleksandr Usyk as the undisputed Cruiserweight champion. He’s made it very clear that he wants to move up to Heavyweight. Joshua is also keen on this happening so hopefully this fight can be put together next year.

This one is definitely for the gamblers out there. If that’s your thing, check out Spin Palace (www.spinpalace.com/ca/) for some amazing casino games that will make you feel like you are preparing for fight night in Vegas!

The only sticking point will be trying to work out how much weight each man has to cut for this bout to take place. USYK doesn’t have a great deal of experience at Heavyweight whereas Joshua is already used to fighting there and would struggle less making the transition. But we could well see these two heavyweight giants go head-to-head next year.

DIAZ vs. GARCIA

This is a fight that boxing fans have been calling for over the past couple of years. That’s because it looks as though there’s some bad blood between them. The issue is, they will both be fighting in different weight classes, so they won’t be able to meet each other until they align.

They are both WBC light welterweight champion and WBA Super Super lightweight champs respectively so this would really unify the championships if they do fight next year. It seems highly likely that they will go toe-to-toe with each other at some point, but it may take another 12 months before we see these two worlds collide.

FURY vs. HAYE 2

David Haye got beaten up pretty badly by Tyson Fury last time they went head-to-head. But now he’s vowing to come back for revenge.

Of course, you can never write off the Hayemaker. He’ll be working hard on his boxing skills so that he is fit enough to take this fight next year. It will be interesting to see how much he has improved since getting smacked around by Fury in their first bout together!
