Jermell Charlo charged with making terroristic threat, arrest warrant sought

Now the other Charlo twin is in trouble.

Officials are seeking an arrest warrant for unified junior middleweight titleholder Jermell Charlo after he was charged with making a terroristic threat in September 2021.

According to TMZ, the criminal charge stems from the same alleged incident that twin brother, Jermall Charlo, was arrested for on February 11.

The unbeaten Jermall (32-0, 22 KOs), who holds the WBC middleweight title and has made four defenses, was booked on a felony charge of assaulting a family/household member after having a previous conviction, according to Fort Bend Jail records. He was released on February 14.

Officials say a 21-year-old man who is apparently a cousin of the Charlos, was assaulted by Jermall and threatened by Jermell during an incident at Jermall's Fort Bend County home.

The victim claims Jermall punched him three times and grabbed him by his hair because he failed to get out of a vehicle "quickly enough for [Jermall's] wife to go with her friends."

Jermall and his wife Shantel have five children together.

Authorities say Jermell allegedly threatened the victim by saying, "I will kill you with my bare hands. The victim complained of head pain and believed he suffered a concussion from the incident.

Jermall is due in court for a hearing on the matter on March 28.

Jermell, however, remains wanted over the misdemeanor terroristic threat charge.

The twins' attorney, Kent Schaffer, told TMZ the incident transpired at a house party Jermall threw.

Schaffer claimed the alleged victim was "recklessly" driving a four-wheeler. He then stated Shantel tried to get the man to stop but was unsuccessful, which caused her to fall to the ground.

"It's total garbage, 100 percent," Schaffer said of the claims against the twins to TMZ. "We will win this fight in the first round."

Jermell (34-1-1, 18 KOs), who holds the WBA, WBC, and IBF titles, is due to return to the ring on May 14 in a highly-anticipated rematch against Argentina's Brian Castano, the WBO titlist, who he fought to a controversial draw last July 17 in Los Angeles. The winner of the fight would become the undisputed junior middleweight world champion.
