Montana Love is prepared to shine on the biggest stage.
The streaking junior welterweight has been added to the Canelo Alvarez-Dmitry Bivol undercard. He will face Mexico's Gabriel Valenzuela in a 10-round affair May 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Matchroom Boxing and DAZN announced Monday afternoon that Love will meet Mexico’s Gabriel Valenzuela in a 10-round junior welterweight match May 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. A pair of unbeaten heavyweights will also square off on the Canelo-Bivol undercard. Filip Hrgovic and Zhang Zhilei will clash in a scheduled 12-round IBF title eliminator. The winner of the aforementioned bout will become the IBF’s mandatory challenger for its heavyweight champion, Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs).
Love (17-0-1, 9 KOs), 27, who hails from Cleveland, is coming off a third-round TKO of Mexico’s Carlos Diaz (29-2, 14 KOs on December 4, on the Devin Haney-Joseph Diaz Jr. undercard in Las Vegas. The victory was his third consecutive knockout win. Prior to that, Love had scored just one knockout in his last six bouts.
Guadalajara's Valenzuela (25-2-1, 15 KOs) has won 15 straight fights. However, none of those wins have come against premier opposition. The 27-year-old has not lost since he dropped a six-round unanimous decision to fellow Mexican William Zepeda (25-0, 23 KOs) in March 2017 in Guadalajara.
