The Bomb Squad is back.
Deontay Wilder scored a one-punch knockout of Robert Helenius Saturday evening in the main event of a Fox Sports PBC Pay-Per-View from Barclays Center.
The rejuvenated former WBC heavyweight champion smashed Helenius with a counter right hand at 2:57 of the opening round in their WBC heavyweight title semi-eliminator.
With the win, Wilder who held the WBC title for five years and made ten defenses before losing to Tyson Fury in their second fight via seventh-round TKO back in February 2020, will face former unified champion Andy Ruiz in a final eliminator in 2023.
But the rejuvenated Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs) looked a lot like the vintage version, when he smashed top rated Robert Helenius, stopping him at 2:57 of the first round with a single right hand in their WBC world heavyweight title eliminator.
