Teofimo Lopez is set to defend his WBO title against Jamaine Ortiz on February 8th at the Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas, headlining a thrilling doubleheader for Big Game Weekend. Alongside this main event, the 10-round lightweight co-feature will showcase U.S. Olympic silver medalist Keyshawn Davis against the former two-division world champion Jose "Sniper" Pedraza.
Presented by Top Rank in collaboration with Takeover Promotions and CES Boxing, ticket sales start on January 5th at 10 a.m. PT on AXS.com. The bouts, Lopez-Ortiz and Davis-Pedraza, will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT.
Bob Arum, Chairman of Top Rank, expressed his excitement: “Teofimo Lopez always seeks out the best opponents, and Jamaine Ortiz is a remarkable talent that fits the bill. Additionally, Keyshawn Davis has tremendous potential, but Jose Pedraza’s skill as a two-weight world champion is not to be underestimated. It's an incredible lineup for fans watching on ESPN and at the Michelob ULTRA Arena.”
Lopez, with a record of 19-1 and 13 KOs, claimed the IBF lightweight world title in December 2019 and later conquered pound-for-pound king Vasiliy Lomachenko for the WBA, WBO, and WBC Franchise titles. However, he relinquished these belts in a surprising split decision loss to George Kambosos Jr. Moving up to junior welterweight, Lopez secured victories against Pedro Campa and Sandor Martin before upsetting Josh Taylor for the WBO and Ring Magazine titles.
Ortiz (17-1-1, 8 KOs) obtained the NABF lightweight title in February 2022 and showcased his skills against Lomachenko before claiming a decisive victory over Antonio Moran in September.
Davis (9-0, 6 KOs), a rising contender from Norfolk, Virginia, has steadily progressed towards a world title opportunity, notably signing with Top Rank in 2021 and earning notable wins in his career.
Pedraza (29-5-1, 14 KOs), a seasoned fighter from Puerto Rico, aims for success in the lightweight division after his prior triumphs in the junior lightweight and lightweight categories.
The ESPN+-streamed undercard will feature emerging talents like lightweight Emiliano Fernando Vargas, lightweight Abdullah Mason, and middleweight Javier "Milwaukee Made" Martinez, each looking to further solidify their positions in the boxing world.
