Ryan Garcia Fails to Make Weight, Fight Still On!

Devin Haney announced on X.com that Ryan is 3 pounds over," signaling a potential financial consequence for Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs), who might have to pay Devin Haney $1.5 million as per their agreed-upon bet of $500K per pound at Thursday's weigh-in.

Ryan Garcia tipped the scales at 143.2lbs, exceeding the super lightweight limit by 3.2lbs, before the ceremonial weigh-in scheduled for 2pm ET. Meanwhile, WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney weighed in at 140 pounds. Throughout the week, concerns arose regarding Garcia's ability to meet the 140-pound mark. Nevertheless, Garcia appears ready to fulfill his commitment to pay $500,000 for each pound he exceeds.

A Golden Boy spokesman confirmed, "Ryan has surpassed his contracted weight but will uphold the handshake agreement from yesterday's final press conference. The fight proceeds." Haney echoed this sentiment on Twitter, stating, "Ryan honored the 500k per pound."

The bout is set for tomorrow night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, and will be broadcast live on DAZN PPV.
